A space built for playing in
Most stores squeeze a folding table between the shelves. We have a proper play space, and you can rent a table for your group to play.
The play space sits right beside the shop on Geek Valhalla's open floor — a dedicated space, not an aisle with a table in it. It's set up for tournaments and campaign groups, and it comes with the things that usually stop a game happening at someone's house.
- Store terrain, so a wargame doesn't need your own board
- The rulebook library, for settling an argument mid-session
- A wall full of games to play
- A functional paint bar, equipped for painting with your friends — each seat rents like a table
- Need things arranged for your group? Ask, and we'll work with you
- Free parking at the door for everyone you invite
- A dedicated table for miniature games or larger roleplaying groups, and a long table for drafts
- Tables are as available — worth asking on Discord before you drive in on an event night
$5 cash per table, or a $10 purchase in the store. One table seats up to four. Arrange a table with us ahead of time and it's held for you; otherwise it's first come, first served while space permits.
Box King tables
The play space is fitted with Box King gaming furniture — purpose-built game tables rather than banquet trestles. If you've played on one you know the difference; if you haven't, it's the difference between a table you play on and a table built for it.
Eight four-player tables, a dedicated table for miniature games or larger roleplaying groups, and a long table for drafts.
There is very little furniture like that within an hour of Rocky Mount, which is part of the point.

The paint bar
The paint bar is part of the play space — look for the "how to rent me" sign on the table. Each seat rents like a table: $5 cash or a $10 store purchase, while space permits.
Every seat comes with:
- Water pots
- Paint samples
- Demo minis for painting
- Magnifying glasses
- LED desk lighting
Good for
Campaigns
A standing weekly or every-other-week slot for a group that has outgrown a kitchen table.
Tournaments
Room for a bracket, with the store next door for anything anyone forgot.
One-shots
A single session — a new system, or a game for a group that can't commit to a weekly slot.
Something bigger
Inquire about larger events or gaming needs and we'll see if we can accommodate them.
Booking questions
What's included?
The play space, tables and chairs, plus access to store terrain, the rulebook library and a wall full of games to play.
What can I book it for?
Campaigns, one-shots and tournaments. Planning something larger? Ask, and we'll see if we can accommodate it.
How much does it cost?
$5 in cash per table, or a $10 purchase in the store — your choice. One table seats up to four players.
What tables are there?
Eight four-player tables, a dedicated table for miniature games or larger roleplaying groups, and a long table for drafts.
Can I reserve a table?
Yes — arrange it with us ahead of time on Discord or through our contact page, and that table is held for you. Otherwise tables are first come, first served while space permits, and on a busy event night the space may already be full.
Is it accessible?
Yes. Ramped access from the parking lot, and aisles at least 4 ft wide throughout, with 5 ft in the main Geek Valhalla walkways.
Can we stay past closing?
Events can run past our 7pm close. Once we've closed to the public the store stays open to event entrants only.
